The hall is known locally as the Reading Room. The inscribed plaque in the gable reads J.H.W. 1900 very likely standing for Joshua Hirst Wheatley who bought Berkswell Hall in 1888. The foundation stone, half hidden by the banner, is seen close up in SP2479 : Foundation Stone Berkswell Village Hall, 1900 Not listed.
