SK6274 : Stable block gateway - Clumber Park

taken 7 years ago, near to Hardwick Village, Nottinghamshire, Great Britain

Stable block gateway - Clumber Park
Stable block gateway - Clumber Park
The block now holds an information centre and displays showing how the house that once stood here looked before being destroyed by fire and subsequently demolished, together with information regarding trials held on the estate of a trench digging tank with code names of Cultivator No. 6 and White Rabbit No. 6. It was also dubbed Nellie and developed by the British Royal Navy at the beginning of World War II at the instigation of Sir Winston Churchill. Ultimately to be known as N.L.E. tractors, the devices were abandoned as their use was no longer thought necessary.
