Cambridge Station: site entrance safety measures
Cambridge Station: site entrance safety measures
The roadway leading to the site of the construction of the new platform crosses the siding leading from the carriage-washing plant (see TL4657 : Cambridge carriage-washing plant and cycle bridge). The red and white markers alert delivery drivers to the overhead wires and existing and newer notices inconsistently warn that the headroom is 16ft 6in or 4.2m. As an enthusiast, I am pleased to see that the level-crossing sign features a steam locomotive. In the background are what I take to be prefabricated sections of the new footbridge and a northbound train waiting at Platform 4. (No trespassing was involved in taking this picture: the camera was poked between the uprights of the security fence.)
