View south from St Mary's Bay
From St Mary's Bay a track runs south across drained marshes towards the village of St Mary Hoo - up on the ridge in the distance. For many years the main land-use in this area of the Thames marshes has been arable - unlike further west, where large areas have never been ploughed and grazing predominates.

The chimney visible above the ridge in the distance is at Kingsnorth power-station, on the Medway, grid reference TQ8172 Link.
