TL5666 : Moorings at Reach Lode

taken 7 years ago, near to Reach, Cambridgeshire, Great Britain

Moorings at Reach Lode
Moorings at Reach Lode
These moorings are at the north edge of the village of Reach. This is the limit of navigation, with sufficient turning room for a 60 foot boat (if you don't mind being swept by overhanging willow). A lode is something between a river and a canal, in this case probably a river straightened to facilitate the passage of clunch (a soft chalky building material) to Cambridge and Ely.
