Picture of the inside of The Baillie Gifford Marquee NX4355 : Baillie Gifford Marquee packed to the gunnels awaiting the arrival of Elaine C Smith (she was late and made fun of it as you'd expect!). Elaine is described as one of Scotland's funniest comedians, actor, columnist and author, known affectionately as Mary Doll living in the shadow of Rab C Nesbitt. Soon to play Susan Boyle on stage she was a hoot and brought tears to your eyes. LinkExternal link
Wigtown Book Festival 2011

Wigtown was officially designated as Scotland's National Book Town in 1998 and is now home to over 20 book-related businesses. A book lovers' haven – and with over a quarter of a million books to choose from, old and new … it is impossible to escape empty-handed.

The annual festival of literary events is under way in Scotland's national book town in Dumfries and Galloway. The 10-day programme at Wigtown promises to include something for readers of all ages and tastes. Among those taking part this year are Sally Magnusson, Martin Bell, Maggie O'Farrell, Celia Imrie, Sarah Hall and Elaine C Smith. More than 100 writers are involved in the proceedings which come to a close on 2 October 2011.

“Wigtown doesn’t just punch above its weight when it comes to attracting big-name authors to its annual book festival, it punches above pretty much everybody else’s weight, too” - The Scotsman
