Drought conditions
Drought conditions
This huge dry field is on the north side of Meggs Hill, next to the Roman Road. It was already unusually dry when I passed this way in February (see TL5152 : The Roman Road and Meggs Hill). Despite a drab summer there has been very little rainfall in 2011 and the heatwave at the end of September and beginning of October did nothing to alleviate the drought. The wider context is shown in TL5152 : Parched field at Meggs Hill.
