Rock climbers call this magnificent dome of limestone the Space Buttress. It is regarded as possibly the most serious inland crag in England due to the difficulty of reaching the routes (either by a long abseil from above or precarious scrambling up the quarried slopes below). Unfortunately, climbing is currently banned by the Crosthwaite and Lyth landowners.
