What remains of Holy Trinity Church
The church was built 1828/30, it had seating for 2,000 people - see photo on The Churches of Britain and Ireland website : LinkExternal link . Over time the building became structurally unsound, the spire was removed in 1947 and the rest of the church was demolished in 1982, leaving these foundations.
A new Holy Trinity Church was built nearby at Stanhope Road in 1980/81 - Geograph photo Link .
The church grounds are now a park, with play equipment and sports facilities. Old gravestones have been moved to the back wall - closer view here : Link .
