Barley Cop Lane - Lancaster
The tarmac ahead is Barley Cop Lane, where the Lancaster suburbs of 'The Vale' and 'Hare Runs' meet the countryside on the northern edge of Lancaster. At the blue sign and green box to the right is the junction of Hammerton Hall Lane, the hedge marking its direction to the right. Above the red van to the left can be seen a bus stop sign, this marks the bus terminus turn a round point. Further a field we see farm machinery collecting the hay, and in the far distance the fells of the Lake District. In recent decades Barley Cop Lane has been widened in this area. I liked it better when the Barley Cop Lane was narrow, but of course practical alterations sometimes have to be made for safety and convenience ! I don't want to see any major new road flying over the west coast railway line (behind the trees to the left) ploughing through the beautiful fields we see here where farmers make hay !
