St Mary the Virgin, Lewisham

An Anglican parish church on Lewisham High Street, about 1/2 mile south of the present town centre. The site is an ancient one but only the base of the tower (c.1500) remains of earlier buildings. The present building is Georgian in style, dating from 1774-7 and was designed by George Gibson. The chancel is 1882 by Blomfield. The Vicar of Lewisham remains the Patron of other parishes in the area that were taken out of the ancient parish of Lewisham.

The church is listed grade II* (list entry number 1193297).
