SD4488 : Limestone grassland, northern Whitbarrow

taken 8 years ago, near to The Howe, Cumbria, Great Britain

Limestone grassland, northern Whitbarrow
Limestone grassland, northern Whitbarrow
Looking towards Horse Pasture Wood. The top of northern Whitbarrow is much more barren and open than further south which is managed as a Cumbria Wildlife Trust reserve. The land is more heavily grazed and so there are far fewer trees and less diversity of plant life.
