Churchill Barrier No.3 and Burray from the air
Churchill Barrier No.3 and Burray from the air
Taken from the window of a Flybe flight to Shetland as we came in to stop off at Kirkwall airfield. This view is of the eastern chunk of the Isle of Burray with Churchill Barrier No. 3 linking it to the tear-drop shaped Glimps Holm on the left as viewed. Obviously this view takes in several squares so I have taken the barrier as the subject ref.
You might think that this view shows most of Burray, but in fact there is at least as much land off image (to the right) - this other part of the island can be seen here ND4496 : Burray - Western Peninsula with Churchill Barrier No.4. To me, this chunk of the island looks like a mini Australia.
