See J3474 : Lanyon Quay, Belfast. Lanyon Quay was a product of the “Laganside” redevelopment scheme. The area has a much longer history reflecting the changes in railway, road and water transport. Between Oxford Street and the Lagan, it was originally the canal quay and, later, Queen’s Bridge railway station (closed to passengers in 1885). In the 1960’s Oxford Street bus station was built on the site of the old station and the goods line from Maysfields to York Road. The Laganbank Road, connecting the Albert Bridge and Oxford Street came along in the early 20th century. Oxford Street is in the background. This part of the Laganbank Road no longer exists. J3474 : Flexibus, Belfast (1990) shows (approximately) the same view in 1990. Continue to J3474 : Lanyon Quay, Belfast (3).
