Site of Romano-British Temple, Maiden Castle
Site of Romano-British Temple, Maiden Castle
The remains of a temple complex built on the Maiden Castle site in the 4th century AD nearly 200 years after the fort was abandoned. A bronze plaque of the goddess Minerva has been found on the site and this may have been the deity to whom the temple was dedicated. The two room building in the foreground is thought to be the priest's house, and the building beyond the temple.
