TQ2979 : New Scotland Yard, Broadway

taken 14 years ago, near to City of Westminster, England

New Scotland Yard, Broadway
New Scotland Yard, Broadway
A polished building, in every sense of the word, originally a speculative development by Chapman Taylor Partners in 1962-66, snapped up by the Metropolitan Police while it was being built. Originally it was built of grey granite but it was clad in stainless steel in 1984-86. There is a long, lower block fronting Victoria Street (TQ2979 : Victoria Street (3), partially visible on the far right).
The iconic revolving sign is bottom left but almost impossible to pick out from this photo.
