The old railway track of the former Derby to Manchester main line is now the Monsal Trail, a walking, cycling & riding route stretching 8.5 miles from Bakewell to Black Brook cottages, Buxton. The Headstone Tunnel is one of four tunnels on the Trail that were opened for public use in May 2011 following nearly two years' work and an investment in excess of 2.25m.
