taken 27 years ago, near to East Quantoxhead, Somerset, England

Wave cut platform at Kilve Beach
Wave cut platform at Kilve Beach
Looking east along the foreshore of alternating layers of shale and limestone. Wave action erodes the weaker shale layers at sea level and this leads to cliff falls to form a beach of loose limestone rocks as seen just beyond the two folk on the right. In the foreground the shale layer is still being eroded and the harder limestone layer above is gradually dropping off in lumps.
