This short section of the Coast-to-Coast path skirting the recreation ground on the approach to Cleator is named Wainwright Passage, presumably in honour of the creator of the walk.
Wainwright's Coast to Coast Walk

The Coast to Coast Walk is a 192-mile route across northern England devised by Alfred Wainwright. It starts on the Irish Sea at St Bees in Cumbria and crosses the Lake District, Yorkshire Dales and North York Moors National Parks to finish at Robin Hood's Bay on the North Sea coast.
