The club was formed in 1832, and has been based here since 1859. In this photograph, the two greens are viewed from a gate at the north-west corner of the grounds.
The background buildings include the tower of the old Burgh Hall (and former
NS3975 : Dumbarton Academy on Church Street, Dumbarton), a little right of centre. Further to the right, the
NS3975 : Remains of Ballantine's Distillery are flanked by two churches: the spire of
NS3975 : Riverside Parish Church on the left, and
NS3975 : St Augustine's Episcopal Church on the right.
