At the far side of the grassy area that is shown in NS3977 : The former Pillanflatt, the footpath / cycle route reaches this gate. Just beyond the gate, a track called NS3977 : The Howgate can be seen entering from the left. The cycle route continues straight ahead, between the River Leven to one side, and the former site of Dalquhurn Dye Works on the other (see NS3977 : Construction site at Dalquhurn and NS3977 : Dalquhurn Estate for subsequent development on that site).
The fenced-off area just beyond the gate is the location of some NS3977 : Old gateposts that were associated with the dye works.
