NB5647 : Tolsta Head and Traigh Mhor beach

taken 17 years ago, 3 km from North Tolsta, Isle of Lewis And Harris, Na h-Eileanan an Iar, Scotland

Tolsta Head and Traigh Mhor beach
Tolsta Head and Traigh Mhor beach
All the rocks in the area are Lewisian Gneiss. Differential erosion of these rocks has produced the serrated coast of headlands and bays. Behind the beach is an area of sand dunes, a product of onshore winds blowing sand particles inland.
