Alton Towers Choragic Monument
Alton Towers Choragic Monument
The Choragic Monument was modeled after the Choragic Monument of Lysicrates, built in Athens in 334B.C, which is situated close to the Acropolis.
It was commissioned by the 16th Earl, John, in the latter 1820s, as a monument and a tribute to his uncle, 15th Earl, Charles, whom he had succeeded in 1827.
