Abbey Pumping Station, Leicester
Abbey Pumping Station, Leicester
Formerly the Beaumont Leys Pumping Station and now a museum of technology. It is home to four Woolf compound beam pumping engines by Gimson & Co of Leicester and built in 1891. This view shows three of the double plate beams that are rather plain and lack the ornamentation of the central columns and entablature. All four engines can now be run on steam.
