Chadkirk Country Estate covers an area of around 60 acres and is comprised of low lying farmland and Ancient woodland. These Ancient woodlands are designated as Sites of Biological Importance due to the rich flora & fauna associated with them. The entire Estate has been designated as an LNR, (Local Nature Reserve). The place name Chadkirk means ‘the church of Chad’. Local tradition says that Chad founded a monastic cell here, and that the present Chadkirk Chapel occupies the site. Chad was the 7th century Bishop of Lichfield and saint to whom the chapel is dedicated. The 14th century chapel was extensively restored in 1995.
