Heather moorland in winter
This photograph is taken from a firm and dry part of the former A851, now retained as a wonderful footpath and cycleway through the extremely boggy moorland south of Skulamus. The old single track road has been replaced by a fine modern highway which runs roughly parallel. It would take an intrepid or foolhardy walker to set off into this terrain, especially in winter. The snow-capped hill on the horizon is Beinn na Caillich.
