Geograph - photograph every grid square

SO6469 : Newnham Farm(I copied this post from another photo I had commented on, but I do believe, this is Butch, the dog that put me to shame all those years ago)...In the summer of 1978 I spent 2 months on Newnham Farm with the Sanderson family. I have such fond memories. I was there as a guest of Bruce Sanderson. It is a time in my life that was so very special and I have never forgotten. I am sure the Sanderson family will always remember me, the silly American girl, for losing an entire herd of sheep. In fairness, it wasn't all my fault. Bruce's brother Pete had just got a puppy named Butch and as we were all attempting to move the sheep from one field to another I was standing between the road to the main motorway and the herd of sheep coming at me like a stampede. As they approached the puppy ran towards the sheep and they seemed to panic. I was supposed to raise my arms and steer the sheep to the right but in that moment I picked up the puppy first and ALL of the sheep ran around me on both sides. They ran towards the exit of the farm, on to the motorway, stopping traffic, and continued down another road towards the neighbors farm. I was horrified. Once Bruce's father saw that none of the sheep had been struck by the cars we all had a good laugh about it. I still stand by my story...it was the puppy's fault.
