The Plough Inn, Finstock in December
A Free House dating from 1772, The Plough hosts Finstock Mummers who stage their Mummers Play out front with much vigour, tightly choreographed sword-fighting and a finely tuned script involving several well-known and respectable local men, heavily disguised and three sheets to the wind, all essentially playing the same character, a drunken shouty man with poor diction and phrasing, very poor mastery of his lines and prone to making impenetrable references to long dead figures such as St. George, King George, a quack Doctor, Robin Hood etc.

Great to see this tradition held up in this village and even better so see Chuffer Dandridge playing Father Christmas.
