Temple Gardens sculpture
The stones in the Roman wall earthworks in Temple Gardens Lindum Road. The sculpture is 'The Way of the Clouds' by Keir Smith, placed in there in 1990 as part of a project known as the journey. It was commissioned by the Usher Gallery and is made of Lincolnshire limestone from the Cathedral's quarry.
Usher Gallery

Grade II* Listed art gallery by Sir Reginald Blomfield and was opened on 25th May 1927 by HRH The Prince of Wales (later Edward VIII). James Ward Usher took over his father’s jewellers and watchmakers’ business in 1874. He had a passion for collecting and built up a collection of ceramics, clocks and watches, coins, silver, enamels and miniatures. He bequeathed to the city his collection and also left a considerable amount of money for a gallery to be built in order to house his collection. In 2005 the new museum opened, known as 'The Collection' and merged with the Usher Gallery. In April 2023 the museum was renamed as Lincoln Museum and Usher Gallery. The Usher Gallery has taken on a more diverse roll and hosts ceremonies, educational workshops and private hire. Much of the Temple Gardens that surround the gallery are a Scheduled Monument, presumably for the potential Roman remains below ground level.
