Newcastle International Airport is one of the busiest in the country with over 200 aircraft movements a day, and carrying over 4 million passengers in a year. Christmas day offers a complete contrast to the usual pattern of activity. With only about 10 incoming flights and 20 outgoing flights, the airport was like a ghost town, but a couple of cafes and Smiths were open.
