Odda's Chapel and Abbots Court
Odda's Chapel and Abbots Court
Odda's Chapel dates back to Saxon times and was re-discovered in the 19th century by the Reverend George Butterworth, then Vicar of Deerhurst. It had been hidden beneath the plaster of the adjacent farmhouse. Abbots Court. The chapel was originally built at the instruction of Earl Odda and according to a stone found within the chapel it was dedicated by Bishop Alfred on the 12th April 1056.
