South gateway to the Piece Hall, Halifax, minus its gates
When Halifax Corporation turned the Piece hall into a fruit and vegetable market in the 1870s a new larger gateway was added, with ornate cast iron gates. The gates were temporarily removed in December 2011 in order for restoration work to be carried out. A roller shutter had been installed to keep the building secure.
