taken 14 years ago, near to Beltingham, Northumberland, England

Plaque with a poem by Lawrence Hewer on a seat by the upper path at Allen Banks
Unfortunately, the inscription is faded in places; the text is
Just Passing By
We're passing through, just you and I
like passing clouds roll across the sky.
Born to live, and born to die,
we're passing through, just passing by.
Like the summer sun and the winter's rain
life brings its joy, life brings its pain.
Times we laugh and times we cry,
while passing through, just passing by.
Each step we take along the way
please give us strength oh Lord we pray.
If we slip, or should we fall
please be our friend and hear our call.
When the going's tough and the journey long
just walk beside and we'll carry on.
Strong in heart with head held high
we're passing through, just passing by
The plaque is at the right hand end of the seat shown in NY7963 : Pastures and woodland near Ridley. The plaque does not say that Lawrence Hewer, of Rowfoot, Featherstone (to the west of Allen Banks, on the other side of Plenmeller Common) has composed many poems about this area of Northumberland - see Link
