NY5858 : Rough pasture above Cleshkett Beck

Rough pasture above Cleshkett Beck
The fields here are reverting back to reeds and bog although I don't think they are part of the RSPB reserve which starts near the valley bottom. Somewhere across here there is a footpath. The white building in the centre of the view is the small cottage of Tortie served by a track from the left running below Tortie Hill. To its right, behind, are other white painted buildings at Howgill. Behind is the steep gash of Howgill breaking the hillside between Tindale Fell and Brown Fell with Cold Fell behind, in the mist. Below the hills, on the right, is the huge disused Forest Head Quarry with its lime kilns. The quarry and hillside mines are served by a network of disused railway lines in the valley bottom.
