This private footbridge is known as Deedman's Bridge in memory of Ivy Gladys Deedman (née Harmsworth) who died in 1990 aged 89. It is there to give access to a building that would otherwise be isolated between the canal and the railway. The later images suggest that the bridge has undergone some degree of reconstruction since Dr Clifton's black and white photograph was taken in 1980, during Mrs Deedman's lifetime.
