Runnymede gate houses
Runnymede gate houses
This pair of lodges is matched by another pair of smaller kiosks at the south eastern end of Runnymede. They were all designed by Sir Edwin Lutyens in 1929 in memory of Urban Hanlon Broughton, MP for the area, and who was shortly become 1st Baron Fairhaven. He owned the historically important land around Runnymede and upon his death his widow, Lady Fairhaven, donated the land to the National Trust.
