Magna Carta memorial
This represents the place where the Magna Carta was sealed by King John in 1215. This memorial was designed by Sir Edward Maufe and commissioned by the American Bar Association (ABA), to commemorate "Magna Carta, symbol of freedom under law". It was unveiled on 18th July 1957. The ABA makes regular visits and in 2000 added a new plaque "to celebrate Magna Carta, foundation of the rule of law for ages past and for the new millennium". Members will visit again in June 2015 at the 800th anniversary of Magna Carta.
