Dome of Old College
Dome of Old College
The main buildings were designed by Robert Adam (1789), but although building began in 1789 it was interrupted by the Napoleonic Wars and stopped in 1793. Adam's vision was never fully realised until 2011 when the Quadrangle ws finally landscaped as he intended.

The dome was not finally constructed until 1887 and is to a design by Rowand Anderson. The gilded figure on top is 'Youth' bearing a torch of learning by John Hutchison.
