taken 12 years ago, near to Roxburgh, Scottish Borders, Scotland
You shall pass!
Scary defences placed by Grey Men on either side of the Roxburgh Viaduct. The gates are of course open and this is now one of Scottish Borders Council's core paths. It is no longer possible to lock the northern fence (unless they use a chain).
The gates look very new. Hopefully the Teviot will spare the viaduct for years to come and they will never be needed.

August 2012
Sadly some unspeakable in a dingy office somewhere has since dispatched a team to install some heavy locks on both sides of the viaduct. The fence is now uncrossable - shame on you, little git.
It is still possible to cross if you are happy on rock, (exposed on the south side) but forget getting a bike across. However their work may not yet be finished and more fencing could appear. There is of course a footbridge below.
