Methodist Chapel Okeford Fitzpaine
Methodist Chapel Okeford Fitzpaine
This chapel is on the muddy track of Pound Lane just east of the village church. It has a stone plaque at the top centre which says:-
" Primitive Methodist Chapel, 1859 "
The primitive methodists were one of the major divisions in English methodism, the other being Wesleyans. They were far more outspoken and dynamic in their preaching especially in the open air, day long "camp meetings" using women as preachers. By 1850 the differences between the two were considerably reduced and they eventually merged in the early 20th C.

the chapel appears to belong to Wessex Water and has bricked up windows.
