Lodge at Hall Barn: portico
Lodge at Hall Barn: portico
This lodge at the gates to Hall Barn is a curious little folly, which Professor Pevsner (in the Buckinghamshire volume of 'The Buildings of England') believed had been cobbled together from 'Gothic bench ends, Early Renaissance panelling from walls or bedsteads, etc'. Be that as it may, this part of the building - with its 'barley-sugar' columns - certainly puts me in mind of the Great Bed of Ware LinkExternal link
