Crystal Cove .... Cliffs north of Broadsands
With Torquay in the background, the range of cliffs known as Crystal Cove are to the left of the red sandstone headland protruding out into sea in the middle of the photograph. This is the main and most impressive section of crystals or chunks of calcite and they are visible in this 25m section of cliffs. SX8958 : Crystal Cove .... Cliffs north of Broadsands

Walkers along this section of coast should be able to see other smaller sections of the cliffs with calcite crystals clearly visible. SX8958 : Crystal Cove .... a cliff including a section of calcite crystals

The privately run railway line from Torquay to Kingswear runs dangerously close to the cliff edge along this section of the cliff and is protected from further coastal erosion by large granite rocks extending down the cliff from the railway line and into the sea. This coastal defence feature can be seen in the shadows of the cliffs in this photo, behind the shoreline rocks closest to the camera. SX8958 : Crystal Cove .... a cliff of calcite crystals

Warning: Beware of the tides along this section of coast. It is easy to be cut off when the tide rises.
