Silly signs by the Trent near Cromwell
Looking northwards at the point where the bridleway enters the scrubland surrounding several gravel pits. Here there are yet more signs spoiling the banks of the Trent. The sign at the centre reads "Ranmore Piscatorial Society, private fishing, no day tickets, members only". The one on the right reads "Ashfield Angling Club, private fishing, no day tickets, please take all your litter home with you", and includes a web site. The bridleway marker between the two comes a poor third in terms of impact. Why is it that the fishing community needs all this stuff - don't they have 'territorial' maps or are they just taking the piscatorial? Parts of a Trent clapper gate complete this welcoming scene - see
SK7350 : Clapper gate by the River Trent (and yet more silly signs).
