SP5611 : The Abingdon Arms, Beckley

taken 7 years ago, near to Beckley, Oxfordshire, Great Britain

The Abingdon Arms, Beckley
The Abingdon Arms, Beckley
The pub name comes from Beckley's link with the Earls of Abingdon. Beckley was inherited in 1657 by James Bertie who was made 1st Earl of Abingdon by King Charles 2 in 1682. The estate remained with the Earls of Abingdon until 1919.
Apparently the author Evelyn Waugh was fond of this pub.
