Staddon Moor
Staddon Moor
The moor is a valuable piece (almost 5 hectares) of Culm Grassland. "The single field lies on a gently sloping hill-top plateau at around 190m .. Its fine
clayey and loamy soils ... supports three characteristic Culm Grassland communities, wet heath, fen meadow and rush pasture, in a mosaic complicated by a shallow ridge and furrow system" LinkExternal link (Archive LinkExternal link ) . "Snipe use the moor in winter and Barn Owl hunt over it."

From the lane between Staddon Moor Cross and Chubs Cross.
