SJ7315 : The former Donnington Wood canal

taken 7 years ago, near to Lilleshall, Telford And Wrekin, Great Britain

The former Donnington Wood canal
The former Donnington Wood canal
The rather boggy line of the canal, which originally served to connect coal pits at Donnington Wood to the road network near Pave Lane. It opened in 1767, and closed eventually in 1904, since when much of the visible course of the waterway has been lost to dereliction and neglect. This section near Lilleshall is still traceable, as a footpath follows the towpath.
