SD7909 : Crossing the Irwell

taken 7 years ago, near to Fishpool, Bury, Great Britain

Crossing the Irwell
Crossing the Irwell
This bridge, originally built for the East Lancashire Railway, also provided a footbridge crossing over the River Irwell at the old Bury and Radcliffe boundary before nearby SD7909 : Warth Bridge was built downstream in the 1930s.

Here, Metrolink tram 1003 is crossing the bridge, heading towards Manchester. It is still carrying its full height adverts for Manchesterís Christmas Markets almost a month since they finished.
