A view of the corner with Lombard Street, showing some of the features of what was originally the WD and HO Wills tobacco factory in East Street, Bedminster. Built in 1886 and officially opened for work on 27th March, the factory was the focal point for local people and provided employment for generations. However, the work was moved to a new plant at Hartcliffe in 1974 and the premises run down. Eventually the main floors were demolished but the frontage was retained. Here we see the rich red colour of Cattybrook brick; terracotta features were also included - see ST5871 : Terracotta feature on the old Wills building.
