SK6429 : Former railway station, Widmerpool

taken 7 years ago, near to Widmerpool, Nottinghamshire, Great Britain

Former railway station, Widmerpool
Former railway station, Widmerpool
The former railway station at Widmerpool, situated about a mile from that village and now a restaurant. It lost its passenger services in 1949, and the line closed completely in 1968.
The two surviving "telegraph" poles once carried telephone, telegraph and signalling lines along the route, and are probably only still standing because of their bracing cables!
