John O' Gaunt's reservoir
John O' Gaunt's reservoir
One of four reservoirs in the Haverah Park area to the west of Harrogate. This is also known as Beaver Dyke Reservoir [west] and was constructed circa 1875/80 by the Harrogate Water Company to supply water to the town. The HWC was created in 1846, but work on the Haverah Park reservoirs was not started until the company obtained permission via an act of parliament in 1869, the first reservoir to be constructed being 'Ten Acre' [SE248534]
